INTERNSHIPS
Friends of the North Fork offers paid, semester based internships that give students hands on experience in watershed protection, volunteer coordination, outreach, and environmental education. Interns work alongside staff on real projects tied to water quality, community engagement, and conservation in the North Fork of the Shenandoah River watershed.
These rotational internships allow students to apply semester by semester and build skills across multiple program areas while setting and reflecting on professional development goals.

This internship focuses on outreach to the agricultural community in the North Fork of the Shenandoah River watershed. You will support efforts that promote best management practices such as tree planting, fencing, cover crops, and runoff reduction to improve water quality.
You will assist with outreach, event planning, and education activities, and support other watershed education programs as needed. The position includes structured opportunities to set and reflect on professional development goals.
This is a rotational internship offered on a semester by semester basis, allowing interns to reapply and continue building experience over multiple terms.

This internship focuses on coordinating volunteer efforts across Friends of the North Fork programs. You will help support work days at Seven Bends State Park, Earth Day river cleanups, water quality monitoring, riparian buffer maintenance or planting events, and organizational events.
