It's time to get your feet wet.
This hands on field session is the second part of the Save Our Streams Benthic Macroinvertebrate (BMI) Monitor training. You'll put your classroom knowledge into practice by collecting, identifying, and evaluating aquatic insects in a local stream.
During this session, you'll:
Learn proper stream sampling techniques
Use kick nets and other monitoring equipment
Sort and identify aquatic insects
Complete a stream health assessment
Practice recording and submitting monitoring data
This field session is required to complete the local BMI monitor training and should be taken after attending the July 11 classroom session or completing the official Save Our Streams online certification.
Please wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. Additional information, including the field location and what to bring, will be provided before the training.
