Visitor Tips

  • There are no designated swimming areas.
  • Wear a life jacket while on the river.
  • Cell service is limited in some areas.
  • Check river conditions before paddling.
  • Pack out everything you bring in.

Pets Welcome

Pets are welcome throughout the park and on the trails.

Dogs must remain on a leash no longer than six feet.

Please clean up after your pet and help protect wildlife.

Outdoor Learning

Bring your students for hands-on, ranger-led programs that spark curiosity and meet Virginia SOLs. From animal tracking and river ecology to guided hikes and biodiversity games, every trip is customizable for your age group and goals.

Programs are $3 per student or $30 per class, and free for Title I schools. If you cannot come to the park, the park can bring the adventure to your school.
